Everything you need to build professional SharePoint forms

Sample Form gives IT admins and site owners a complete no-code form designer — built exclusively for SharePoint Subscription Edition on-premises.

01

Design on the page, no code

The entire form designer lives inside the SharePoint web part. There is no separate admin portal, no external tool, and no deployment step for design changes. Open the page in edit mode, configure the form, save — and the updated form is live immediately. Themes, fonts, banner images, section headings, and field labels are all editable in place.

  • Live preview as you design — no separate preview mode
  • Custom banner images stored in Site Assets
  • Theme and font selection from the designer panel
  • Section headings and descriptions editable inline

Edit headings, descriptions, banners, themes, and fonts directly in SharePoint edit mode. What you see is what your users get.

02

Bind any SharePoint list

Sample Form connects to any SharePoint list on the same site collection. Select the list from a dropdown, load its columns, and choose exactly which fields to expose on the form. Drag fields into numbered sections to group related inputs. Column order on the form is independent of the list column order — you decide what users see and in what sequence.

  • Connect to any list on the site collection
  • Choose which columns appear — hide internal or system columns
  • Organise fields into numbered, labelled sections
  • Form column order is independent of list column order

Pick a list, choose which columns appear, and organise them into numbered sections. Full control over layout and order.

03

Create columns on the fly

When you need a field that does not exist yet, you can create a new list column without leaving the form designer. Name the column, choose its type, and it is added to the list and immediately available to place on the form. This removes the round-trip to List Settings and keeps the design flow uninterrupted.

  • Create new list columns from inside the designer
  • Supports all standard SharePoint column types
  • New columns are immediately available to add to the form
  • No need to navigate away to List Settings

Add new list columns directly from the form designer — no need to visit list settings separately.

04

Validation beside every field

Each field on the form can carry one or more validation rules. Mark a field as required, restrict a text field to a minimum or maximum length, enforce a valid email or phone format, set numeric bounds, or limit the date range a user can select. Attachment fields support file count and size limits. Validation messages are shown inline next to the field — no page reload required.

  • Required field enforcement with custom error messages
  • Email and phone format validation
  • Number range and text length limits
  • Date range restrictions
  • Attachment count and file size limits

Required, email, phone, number range, text length, date rules, and attachment limits — all configured without code.

05

Repeating line items

Repeating sections let users add multiple rows of structured data within a single form submission. Each row is stored as an item in a child list, linked to the parent submission by item ID. Users can add rows, edit them, and remove them before submitting — all without a page reload. This is ideal for purchase orders, task lists, expense claims, or any scenario where one submission contains multiple line items.

  • Add, edit, and remove rows before submitting
  • Each row stored in a linked child list
  • Parent–child relationship maintained automatically
  • No page reload when adding or removing rows

Add and remove rows in a child list with no page refresh. Perfect for order lines, tasks, or multi-item requests.

06

Re-assign to others

The re-assign feature lets a user hand a partially completed form to one or more colleagues before it is submitted. The recipient receives the form in their context, can review or complete it, and submit on behalf of the originator. This covers approval hand-offs, delegation, and multi-person data entry without requiring SharePoint Designer workflows or custom development.

  • Route a form to one or more named users
  • Recipient can complete and submit on behalf of the originator
  • Supports delegation and multi-person data entry
  • No SharePoint Designer or custom code required

Route a form submission to one or more people before it is finalised. Keep workflows moving without custom code.

07

Publish as the list New form

Once the form is configured, a single button replaces the default SharePoint New item form across the entire list. From that point, every user who clicks New in the list view is taken to the Sample Form page instead of the standard SharePoint form. Reverting is equally simple — one click restores the default New form, leaving the Sample Form page intact for future use.

  • One-click publish replaces the list New form
  • Applies across the entire list for all users
  • One-click restore returns the default SharePoint form
  • The Sample Form page is preserved when reverted

Replace the default New form with one click. Restore the original just as easily when you need to.

08

Clean completion screen

When a user submits the form, they see a clear confirmation screen — not a raw list view or a blank page. The message confirms the submission was successful and then redirects the user to the site home page. This gives every form a professional, finished feel and avoids the confusion of landing on an unformatted list after submitting.

  • Branded confirmation screen after every submission
  • Automatic redirect to site home page
  • No raw list view shown to end users
  • Consistent, professional end-of-form experience

After submit, users see a confirmation message, then return to the site home page. No dead ends.
